Ancient Grave In Siberia uncovers oldest Example Of Twins “7,700-year-old”!

Archaeologists have discovered the oldest example of death by dystocia; a woman who looks to have died with her earliest known example of twins on the archaeological record, during childbirth back since about 8,000 years ago.

Researchers wrote about the discovery in the Feb. issue of the journal Antiquity. The most remarkable issue about the discovery is that there wasn’t almost any direct evidence of the twins although they must have been around there in prehistoric times.

The remains, which their age is estimated to be between 7,630 and 7,725 years old, were uncovered at a prehistoric cemetery called Lokomotiv, near present-day Irkutsk in Russia. On the other side, we notice that the woman’s remains were unrevealed in 1997, it was believed at the time that she had died with just one child. That was changed lately after a recent research and examination that revealed a second group of bones in the pelvic region.

The woman’s age is estimated to be around 20 and 25 at the time of her death, which may have been a result of the abnormal arrangement of her twins when she was trying to deliver them.

The researchers explained the woman case in Antiquity saying that one of the twins was in normal position while the other was in feet down position; which happens today only about 20% of all twins’ deliveries cases and regarded to be very high risk case. Researchers continued to say that they think that the twins may have been locked together or one might have his head stuck in the birth canal and resulted in the death of the three individuals “Mom and the twins” because of the complications they had from the childbirth.

Lieverse told Live Science website: “It suggests either they didn’t know she had twins or that dying during childbirth wasn’t so out of the realm of possibility that it would be considered unique,”

Researchers also mentioned they found a buried wolf in the same site, thousand miles away from his habitat and that was so unusual, dogs maybe, but wolves were never friends for humans and it was the first time to find a buried wolf in a special grave.
