Marijuana Could Literally Replace These 5 Prescription Drugs

But now, a groundbreaking new study, published in the journal Drug and Alcohol Review, has revealed that medical marijuana users are increasingly trading in their prescription medication – as well as alcohol, and hard drugs – for cannabis.

This is serving as a sign that there is a major shift in public awareness and understanding of marijuana as a medicine.

1. VICODIN (PAINKILLERS)

In several studies we have seen that marijuana is an effective treatment for those suffering from chronic pain. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, notes that 44 Americans die each day from painkiller overdose. Marijuana takes that number down to zero.

2. XANAX (ANTI-ANXIETY MEDICATION)

Some people feel that marijuana causes acute anxiety and paranoia. But for many who normally suffer from anxiety, it reverses this and has been proven to reduce anxiety.

3. ADDERALL (STIMULANTS)

Some how found an effective replacement for prescription stimulants like Adderall, with marijuana. Sativas strains, rather than indicas, have been proven to effectively treat ADHD and ADD.

4. AMBIEN (SLEEP AIDS)

One of the most obviously and notorious uses of marijuana has been to treat sleeping problems. This is one of the most common applications, according to numerous studies as well as common anecdotal reports. This replaces drugs such as Ambien.

5. ZOLOFT (ANTIDEPRESSANTS)

It might not be a fit for everyone, but most who use marijuana report its anti-depressant effects. Medical marijuana has far less serious side effects than prescription anti-depressants.
