7 Things That Increase Your Libido

Before we talk about how to increase your libido with one or more of these things on our list, let’s discuss what libido is. According to a research paper published in the European Menopause Journal ‘Libido is a comprehensive and yet elusive word that indicates basic human mental states ‘ and their biological counterparts’ involved in the beginning of sexual behavior. It has three main roots: biological, motivational-affective and cognitive.’ To increase libido, we can focus on mental, biological, or emotional factors, or we can try to affect all three of these factors.

1.Take your vitamins.

There are many different libido-enhancing formulas or supplements on the market. It is most important to get the right recommendation for you. In the meantime, here are some safe starters available at most health food stores:

• Vitamin C increases circulation and gives you more energy by fueling your adrenal glands.
• Vitamin B5, also called pantothenic acid, is one of eight B vitamins, all of which help the body convert food (carbohydrates) into fuel (glucose), which is used to produce energy. B5 specifically assists in the production of sex and stress-related hormones. Bring on the Bs!

2. Eat your greens.

Vegetables might not sound sexy, but in fact, following a healthy, whole-foods diet with lots of greens (spinach, kale, bok choy, asparagus, broccoli) can help get you get in the mood. Green foods are chock-full of Vitamin C—indeed, they have more vitamin C than oranges, so eat your greens!

3. Hug it out

Studies have shown that 20-second hugs can increase levels of oxytocin, which helps people feel bonded. Hug and cuddle whenever you can, and try to touch your partner more often to spark feelings of intimacy, which tend to trigger sexual desire.

4. Add aphrodisiacs to your diet

There isn't a lot of scientific evidence that aphrodisiac foods like oysters, figs, chocolate and hot peppers actually work to increase your libido, but there's certainly no harm in trying them. While they may not have biological effects, they can have psychological effects. Plus, the nutrients found in many of the foods are good for you and can help with any physical pursuits, including sex.

5. Think Sexy Ideas

Your brain is a basic part of your sex drive. Give some thought to the essential things that turn you on about your partner or an attractive person. Exactly exactly what do you love about their body and the method that they please you?

6. Love Yourself First

Loving others absolutely involves a psychological vulnerability. Often, we may feel unable to give love (or sex) to another individual unless we feel loveable first.

7. Gaze at a photo of your significant other

A study by Helen Fisher, an anthropologist at Rutgers University, found that when people look at a photo of their loved one for 30 seconds or longer, their brain begins producing dopamine, a libido booster. Of course, I know a lot of women who’d say that gazing at a photo of Ryan Gosling might be helpful as well.
